The Postal Service can Arrest People?

It wasn’t the FBI who arrested Steve Bannon, it was the US Postal Inspection Service. I’m Amy E. Feldman

What do you Mr. McFeely and Cliff Claven have in common? Both can arrest people-well at least their compatriots in the Postal Inspection Service can. Who knew? Well, Steve Bannon, for one. He was arrested by US Postal Inspectors, who are federal law enforcement agents who enforce more than 200 federal statutes involved in crimes against the Postal Service, the mail, and its customers.

They have the power to serve warrants and to make arrests without warrants for offense is committed in their presence and for postal-related felonies.

They do not, however, have the right to open first class mail without a warrant. Priorities, people! It’s unclear why they arrested Banyan since he has not been charged with mail fraud, although the agency said it is regularly involved in fraud investigations. Let’s hope that if Cliff Claven ever hast to pull out the cuffs, he is not too drunk to do it.
From the Judge Group, I’m Amy E. Feldman for KYW News Radio.
