I’m Amy E. Feldman, with why you’re being asked to accept all cookies, and not of the delicious variety.
In the past 18 months, when surfing the web you’ve probably been asked if you’re willing to accept all cookies. To be clear, my cookie policy is yes to sugar cookies and sometimes snickerdoodles, depending on my mood. Not that cookie, as you’ve likely figured. Cookies are small files sent to your device by the website you’re visiting, which are stored and then used to monitor certain information about you, like your login or what’s in your cart.
You’re being asked about cookies now because of the passage of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which requires multinational companies to get a user’s permission to use cookies in order to give users knowledge of how their information is being collected. Not all cookies are the same; you should decline the cookies your antivirus software tells you are suspicious. And I’m a hard pass on all things oatmeal raisin-related.
