Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener… mobile driver. I’m Amy E. Feldman.
Oscar Mayer is now searching for a graduating college senior looking to become a hot dogger—the person who drives the Wienermobile, acts as an Oscar Mayer spokesperson at events, and documents the journey on social media.
Now’s the time when high school and college students are beginning to think about summer jobs and while most won’t get the chance to drive the Wienermobile, many may be thinking about acting as a delivery driver for the summer. But under the law, it’s illegal for a company to hire anyone under 17 to drive a vehicle as part of his or her job, and 17-year-olds can only drive as part of their job during daylight hours, and only if they’ve successfully completed a drivers ed course. Even so, they can’t transport property, goods, or passengers. So alas, you’ll have to wait until you’re at least 18 to be a delivery driver or to drive the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile, if that is what you truly want to be.
